Rule Break

No Essa: Void Techniques produce no Essa signature. Undetectable by Scan. Unseverable by Sever. Invisible to the Suppression Grid. You can lock down three combatants before anyone in the room knows what is happening.

Archetype: Void-field controller — no Essa, no hardware

The Still is the absence of Essa. Not the absence of ability — the absence of Essa signature. Other practitioners channel Essa through Rigs or bodies and the Empire's Suppression Grid reads them. You produce nothing the grid can detect. The Void is not Essa. It is what Essa displaces. You move things without touching them. You hold creatures without chains. You walk through walls.

In the World

The documentation on Void practitioners doesn't exist — the Citadel of the Still destroyed it after the Collapse. The Empire has no regulatory framework for the Void because the Void has no frequency to regulate. Void Techniques cannot be detected by Scan, cannot be shut down by Sever, and cannot be suppressed by the Grid. From a bureaucratic standpoint, the Still does not exist.

Key Mechanic: Void Pool

Void generates passively at +1 per round in combat, +1 when you successfully control a creature, +1 when a creature under your Concentration fails a save. Techniques cost 2–3 Void. No vials. No Feedback Save. No Burn. Void resets each combat. You can maintain Concentration on 2 Void effects simultaneously (3 at Level 18).

Essa Interaction

No Essa. No Rig. No Burn Track. No Feedback Save. Void Techniques are undetectable by Scan, unseverable by Sever, and invisible to the Suppression Grid. The Void is the structural opposite of Essa — what Essa displaces rather than what Essa is.

Void generates +1/round in combat, +1 on successful Lift/Hold/Bind/Suppress, +1 when a Concentration target fails a save. Max 6 at L3–8, 8 at L9–12, 10 at L13+. Resets each combat.
No Essa (Rule Break)Level 3
Void Techniques cannot be detected by Scan, shut down by Sever, or suppressed by the Empire's Suppression Grid. They produce no readable Essa output.
Void EscalationLevel 5
Step costs only 1 Void. Step now functions through solid matter (no line of sight required). At Void 4+: advantage on WIS and CON saving throws.
Void SurgeLevel 7
When a creature fails a save against one of your Void Techniques, immediately gain +1 Void. Maximum 1 per activation.
Field PresenceLevel 10
Maintain Concentration on up to 2 Void Techniques simultaneously. Enemies in active Concentration effects have disadvantage on saves against new Techniques you apply.
Void OverflowLevel 13
When Void is at maximum and you would gain more: immediately Step free to any space within 30 ft. All creatures within 10 ft of you make STR save or pushed 15 ft + prone.
Void SilenceLevel 15
Passive, constant, undetectable: all Essa signatures within 30 ft function at −1 EP output (minimum 1). Creatures in range are unaware of the source.
Total VoidLevel 18
1/LR. All creatures within 60 ft make WIS save: fail = Frightened + Restrained + Incapacitated until end of next turn. Success = Frightened only. Cost: entire Void pool (min 5). Undetectable.
Apex StillLevel 18
Void generates at 2/round instead of 1. Void max increases to 12. Maintain 3 Void Concentration effects simultaneously. Void Silence extends to 60 ft.
