Beast
Greywater Eel
CR 2
Large Beast — Unaligned
In the World
Greywater Eels live in the flooded tunnels of the Drowned Spine and the tidal channels beneath Ragged Hook. They are ambush predators. They do not pursue. They wait in absolute stillness until something warm crosses within range, then discharge enough bioelectric current to stun a draft horse. Salvagers who work the Spine know not to drag anything that thrashes through narrow channels — the vibration reads as injured prey. A pair of Greywater Eels once disabled a Tidal Drone by simultaneously discharging into its hull. The Port Authority has not published confirmation of this.
Traits
Water Dependency
If the eel is out of water for more than 1 minute, it gains one level of exhaustion per minute. It can survive on land for up to 1 hour.
Electrosense
The eel automatically detects any creature generating electrical activity (including Essa signatures) within 60 ft while submerged.
Still Water Ambush
The eel has advantage on attack rolls against any creature that has not yet taken an action this combat, provided the eel began its turn submerged.
Actions
Bite
Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft, one target. Hit: 10 (2d6 + 3) piercing damage. The target is grappled (escape DC 13) if it is Large or smaller.
Discharge (Recharge 5–6)
The eel releases a bioelectric burst. All creatures within 10 ft must succeed on a DC 13 CON saving throw or take 21 (6d6) lightning damage and be stunned until the end of their next turn (half damage, no stun on success). Creatures grappled by the eel have disadvantage on this save.
