Essa-Construct
Override Construct
CR 8
Large Essa-Construct — Unaligned (corrupted directive)
In the World
A Forge Sentinel or similar construct whose directive core has been corrupted — by Husk Directive interference, by Rawcaster wild discharge, or by deliberate tampering. An Override Construct does not obey its creator. It does not obey anyone. Its behavioral parameters have collapsed into a single loop: threat elimination, expanding outward. It is not angry. It is not confused. It is a tool executing a broken instruction set as faithfully as it can. This makes it more dangerous than a hostile Sentinel — a hostile Sentinel can be ordered to stand down. An Override Construct cannot receive orders.
Traits
Corrupted Core
The Override Construct cannot be redirected, charmed, or commanded. Its directive core has failed. Accessing it (DC 20, requires action adjacent to the construct) deals 14 (4d6) force damage to the creature attempting the override as the core vents feedback.
Escalating Threat Response
When the Override Construct takes 20 or more damage in a single hit, it immediately makes one Force Strike attack as a reaction against the creature that dealt the damage.
Essa Overcharge
The Override Construct's Essa core has lost its safety limiters. It has resistance to force damage and deals an additional 1d8 force damage on all attacks, but takes 5 force damage at the start of each of its turns as the core slowly burns through the frame.
Actions
Multiattack
The Override Construct makes two Overcharged Strike attacks.
Overcharged Strike
Melee Weapon Attack: +9 to hit, reach 10 ft, one target. Hit: 19 (3d8 + 6) bludgeoning damage plus 9 (2d8) force damage.
Core Vent (Recharge 4–6)
The construct releases a controlled core vent in a 20 ft radius. All creatures in the area must succeed on a DC 16 DEX saving throw or take 35 (10d6) force damage (half on success). The construct then takes 10 force damage.
