Essa Wraith

CR 11

Medium Undead — Chaotic

In the World

What happens when raw channeling fails completely and the body can't contain what it tried to hold. An Essa Wraith is a consciousness that lost its physical coherence when the channel overloaded — the Essa burned the body away but the mind remained, sustained by the force energy it can no longer release. Rawcasters who attempt Mythic Techniques without proper support are statistically the most common source of new Essa Wraiths. The Suppression Grid detects them immediately. The Empire does not publicize that they exist. The Citadel of the Still believes the Wraith state is technically reversible. They have not yet succeeded in a reversal.

Traits

Incorporeal Movement
The Essa Wraith can move through other creatures and objects as if they were difficult terrain. It takes 5 (1d10) force damage if it ends its turn inside an object.
Force Radiance
At the start of each of the Essa Wraith's turns, each creature within 10 ft takes 10 (3d6) force damage.
Essa Disruption
Any Essa Technique activated within 30 ft of the Essa Wraith automatically has its Feedback DC increased by 4. On a failed Feedback Save within this range, the character gains 1 additional Burn level.
Sunlight Weakness
In natural sunlight, the Essa Wraith has disadvantage on attack rolls and ability checks. It takes 10 radiant damage at the start of its turn in sunlight.

Actions

Multiattack
The Essa Wraith makes two Force Lash attacks.
Force Lash
Melee Spell Attack: +8 to hit, reach 10 ft, one target. Hit: 18 (4d6 + 4) force damage. The target must succeed on a DC 16 CON save or gain 1 Burn level.
Overload Pulse (Recharge 5–6)
The Wraith releases stored force energy in a 20 ft radius. Each creature in the area must succeed on a DC 16 CON save or take 45 (10d8) force damage and be knocked prone. On a success, half damage and no prone. Rig users have disadvantage on this save.
